This one is a long time coming… October’s Naturally North Shore Customer Service Award goes to Chuck Chamberlain of the legendary Tomahawk Restaurant!
A legend of Vancouver’s North Shore himself, Chuck carries on the tradition started by his family way back in 1926, rising early every morning with a dedication to the “old-fashioned” way: serving up home-style food with a welcome smile and an unmatched attention to detail. As our nominator points out, “Chuck has spent most of his life serving the North Shore. He always treats everyone with care and kindness.”

We’re into the sunny season, and our North Shore service stars are shining as brightly as the summer forecast! For our next Naturally North Shore Customer Service Award winner, we’re heading to Edgemont, at none other than Delany’s Coffee House.
Claire McKay is one of the stellar staff members who works there and was recently nominated for the honour by a very appreciative guest. “Claire greets everyone with an amazing smile, and is always welcoming, no matter what is going on behind the scenes.”
Another wonderful example of a true North Shore ambassador. Congrats Claire, and thank you for setting an example for how to create a warm and inviting environment for locals and visitors alike!
Emily received multiple nominations from customers who were absolutely floored by her service. Not only for the way she quickly and efficiently tends to all her customers, but for the warm way she does so.
“Emily consistently goes above and beyond with her friendly and engaging personality, making every interaction enjoyable,” reads one nomination. Another nomination comes from a Buddha-full regular who continues to be impressed by Emily’s positive attitude, “I see Emily on a regular basis and she is always happy and genuinely seems to enjoy her job, colleagues and customers. She is truly a pleasure.”

Providing stellar service to his guests at Earls Ambleside, our latest recipient of a Naturally North Shore Customer Service Award is Stephen Martinez!
The whole staff at the beachside restaurant is fantastic, but as Stephen’s nomination explains, his service is “exemplary”. The glowing review speaks to how well Stephen takes care of his guests and creates a memorable experience for everyone he serves. “We came for happy hour, and Stephen made our evening—the best service.” We couldn’t agree more.

Donna is known for warmly welcoming her guests to the pub and ensuring they have everything they need for a fun and memorable experience. As Donna’s customer nomination reads, “Donna is the best waitress, and she goes above and beyond her call of duty. She is experienced and can handle the whole Pub by herself!”

Kenny is known for going above and beyond for his guests, with a genuine and infectious enthusiasm. He has an impressive knowledge of the North Shore’s history and Indigenous community and never fails to engage MONOVA’s visitors with rich stories of the past. While Kenny is a fantastic guide to Vancouver’s North Shore, he also listens to his guests, anticipating their needs, whether giving directions or recommendations.
Thank you Kenny, for giving visitors a friendly reason to come back, and locals countless reasons to continue telling stories! A wonderful example of how we can all learn to “Love It Like a Local.”
The Naturally North Shore Customer Service Awards were established to celebrate those individuals who work in the tourism and hospitality industry who embody the open and welcoming spirit of the North Shore. Nominated by the customers they serve, as well as co-workers, winners receive public recognition from city officials as well as some coveted swag that includes gift cards to local businesses.
All monthly award winners will be invited to our fabulous year-end reception to be held in February 2025 where they will be wined and dined and further celebrated for all their hard work and dedication.
